Examples include 8 GPT-3 prompts that are recommended to support content marketing and email marketing as well as search marketing and social media marketing.
Part 1 of my review of ChatGPT’s marketing applications, I examined the quality and interactions of ChatGPT’s GPT-3 Large Language Model. I asked: How can ChatGPT be used for marketing? I will be introducing ChatGPT and how it can be used to learn more about digital marketing. This article will show you how ChatGPT can be used by marketers for content marketing activities such as email, search marketing, and social media. Knowing how to prompt ChatGPT is a crucial skill. I will show you different Prompting techniques, before we look at specific applications for different digital marketing channels.
In the following visual, I will review some digital marketing channels.
It’s amazing how easy it is to use and the quality of the conversational interactions. We’re seeing an overwhelming number of articles that recommend ChatGPT. Many are showing examples but don’t seem to be critical enough about the output. It is a Natural Language Generation (NLG) tool, so it shouldn’t surprise that it can suggest alternative titles for blog posts. It can do so many amazing things, but it is important to learn how to prompt it to produce useful copy.
This is what I will be doing in this blog post. I’ll recommend techniques and list other prompts that you could use to get back to me.
Marketers must learn prompt engineering!
ChatGPT has attracted a lot of excitement from marketers because it works across all media channels and can be used as a productivity tool for creative and analysis. Although I don’t believe it will replace marketers, I do see ChatGPT as a great collaboration tool that can improve the quality and effectiveness of content creation. ChatGPT is a highly respected commentator on content marketing, and more generally marketing practices. Mark Schaefer believes it will transform every marketer’s career. ChatGPT and other marketing-specific Generative Artificial Tools built on LLMs are my opinion. Before we get into the examples of different channels, let’s talk about how to best prompt the chatbot.
There are many articles already about how to prompt ChatGPT. You can also learn some best practices by trying out different approaches. It’s sometimes called prompt engineering, but that would be too broad. It’s not an engineering discipline. You can apply some basic rules to your approach by using common sense, as I have suggested in my suggestions.
ChatGPT: Understanding One, Two and Few Shot Prompts
Although ChatPT is an advanced model of natural language generation (NLG), it doesn’t need prompts (known as “Zero shot” among AI professionals), we will need to master prompting. It’s still useful and you will find it works better if your instructions are more precise. You give the context by giving examples and more detailed instructions (‘One shot or ‘Few shots’). We can’t rely solely on AI. We need to use our intelligence and experience as ‘Prompt Engineers. It’s just like learning Google. Some people find it easier to search Google for answers than others. There aren’t any ‘Advanced Search’ prompts or syntax because, like Google, the Chatbots have eliminated them. It’s just natural language.
Let’s start by looking at some examples of prompting rules that can be used in email marketing. Next, we’ll discuss search and social media marketing.
ChatGPT is a tool for email marketing
Copywriting is the obvious application, but email doesn’t exist by itself. Emails work best when they are part of a series, such as a Welcome sequence. We will use this example to show ChatGPT how it works.
Effective marketing copywriting is about creating relevance for a particular audience, engaging them and convincing them to take the next step. In these examples of Email marketing copywriting, I will not just ask ChatGPT for copy. I will also look at the reasons why it was created. Below is a checklist that illustrates my prompting approach.
1. The context
It is a good practice to start a conversation in order to clear any previous dialogue. Once you have established the context, it is kept throughout the conversation. You can also return to it at any time if you save the dialog.
As you can see, I am very specific in my prompt explaining context. This is an advertisement for a cleaning service that can be used in offices.
These Subject lines are not what I would consider to be impressive. They are marketing happy talk, and I will explain how I can improve them.
2. Define your task and your goal
What are you looking for the AI to do? These are subject line ideas. However, I am specifically looking for welcome emails and marketing strategies for new prospects.
These are other examples of goals taken from the 120 Best CHAT PPT Prompts For Marketers and Students.
“Write an persuasive email to increase attendance for our upcoming event.”
“Create a follow up email to send potential clients after a meeting.”
Send a thank you email to your customers after making a purchase
Send us a promotional email to promote our new product/service.
“Create an email reminder for a upcoming meeting or deadline”
3. Define the role of the Chatbot or its tone
Although it may suffice to provide context, some people recommend that ChatGPT be asked to act in a specific role or with a certain tone of voice. For example, “Act as an Email Marketing Copywriter” This was not what I needed, but you can change the context in other ways.
4. To improve the context and response, ask follow-up questions
Although the first subject lines are acceptable, they are very generic. These subject lines reminded me of Steve Krug’s “Marketing Happy Talk” in his book “Don’t Make Me Think”. It’s a boring, generic piece of fluff that isn’t engaging for the audience. “Say Goodbye To…?” is not something an experienced copywriter would write. Top-Notch”. It doesn’t work for you.
Next, I asked for clarification to provide better alternatives to people in B2B who are switching to another service. These questions are more specific.
5. Ask for other options you could choose from
These prompts show you how to specify your goal. However, you’ll have more creative ideas if you ask for multiple options.
I asked the AI to suggest alternative subject lines, and then I requested alternatives for the body copy. You can then choose from the best or do AB testing to determine which one works best for you audience.
6. Please specify your copy limit
Although the subject lines may be a bit long, they could still work for an initial test. However, you can specify how many characters you want. ChatGPT is able to know the limits for Google Ads, for instance (although it was trained only up until 2001 so they may be out of date).
7. Learn from the AI
ChsatGPT can be used as a learning tool. Ask it why it does things in this way and what the basis is. ChatGPT is not a black box. Ask it why it chose certain approaches. Ask it why it structured the email this way. This is the kind of explanation that you would find in an email marketing course or book. It can also help to inform your copy.
8. Locate the source of the recommendations
Asking experts can help you take your knowledge one step further. These are some great recommendations. Neil Patel is an email marketing expert, but we aren’t sure.
Chase Diamond, an email copy specialist at LinkedIn, has additional ChatGPT prompts to help with email copywriting.
Let’s now examine some of the most popular digital marketing channel prompts. These are some of the prompts shared by Alex Velinov (CTO of Tag Digital, based in Glasgow) on two popular LinkedIn lists (ChatGPT Marketing List 1 & List 2), which link to specialists in their respective fields.
Examples of ChatGPT prompts for organic search
Aleyda Solis, an internationally renowned SEO consultant, has the best summary.
These extensions allow you to create meta descriptions and alternative titles for your posts. These Chrome extensions will help you to find the best prompts.
Her recommendations include keyword analysis tools and keyword clustering software. These tools are not recommended as they do not provide the relative volumes or impressions for search terms. These are not the tools I will be using.
This is a great technique to group or cluster keywords well if you are using GSC

Social media marketing prompt examples
Jon Loomer is a Facebook ad strategist who has been doing so for quite some time. It’s fascinating to see what his take on it.
These are great for those who want to be more focused on LinkedIn.
Other digital and marketing tools
This is my collection of ChatGPT prompts for marketers. These prompts can be used in your marketing. Please share this post if you found it via LinkedIn. I will be happy to add them to the post.
